The children of Pasadena ISD need your help to create activity spaces on their campuses and in their communities to stay socially, emotionally, and physically healthy. Due to budget constraints, many schools must use what little resources they have on the academic component of school. But as most of us know, a lot of valuable learning takes place on the playground. Physical activity exerts a powerful, positive influence on physical health, emotional stability, and the motivation and ability to learn. Healthy habits are learned at a young age, so implementing healthy lifestyles and choices at the elementary and middle school level is crucial for students to learn lifelong healthy habits. Because of the declining health of Americans, this generation of children is predicted to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. Negative health outcomes are the result of a culture and society in which unhealthy has become the norm.
The time is now for our community partners to assist with this endeavor by creating opportunities for the youth in our community to learn how to be a healthy adult. The most cost effective, preventative health care option is to keep children healthy.
By partnering with the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, our goal is to reach community members who would like to partner with us by participating in a fun, family-friendly activity which will provide the support and resources necessary to encourage all of us to be healthier, if not for ourselves, as role models for our children. The race will consist of a 1K for elementary students and senior citizens, and a 5k for young teens and adults with a few obstacles to make the race fun and exciting! There will be many vendors, music for entertainment, and activities for families to enjoy throughout the day. We are asking for your support in making this event a great success.
